your feet that footshop
The foot is a complex piece of equipment and is the first and last point of contact with the ground and initiates a cascade of musculoskeletal events starting with shock absorption and finishes with propulsion in a process called the gait cycle.
The body is designed as a musculoskeletal spring, on impact, the spring compresses through a series of rotational movements. As the body travels forward post impact, the body starts to reverse these movements, uncoiling the spring leading to propulsion, then the cycle starts again hence gait cycle.
When some of these events occur to an excess it can lead to either muscles or joints exceeding their functional capacity to do their job, resulting in wear and tear or overuse. If our feet are not doing their job properly, we feel the effects all through our bodies.
In this section, you can learn more about how healthy feet are the foundations of a healthy body.
